Remote Producing

From Jamaica’s countryside, to the dusty streets of Dili and deep in Arnhem Land, Ward has delivered fully produced, mixed and mastered songs of high quality. He’s at home recording in a Kingston neighbourhood or in makeshift drum rooms in Indonesia’s archipelago. It’s important to him to work with musicians and producers who are disadvantaged; and to work with traditional people to help share their story.

Studio Producing

After studying producing at the College of the Arts in Melbourne, Ward is just as at home in a traditional studio. He’s worked with the likes of Jan Skubiszewski (John Butler, ILLY) at Red Moon Studios, Guus Hoevenaars (Courtney Barnett, Tones & I) at Newmarket Studios and Flabba Holt (Roots Radics, Israel Vibration).

While in Darwin, Ward often produces out of Sands Studio, based in Jingili and owned and operated by Rowan Dally.

  • "Ward mixed and mastered an album for me (my father's) which was of great sentimental value, so it was important to me that I was satisfied with the final product and felt involved in the process. He was respectful and professional, but also personable to work with, so I felt comfortbale asking for revisions or makin requests along the way. He was also prompt with the turnaround of tracks and affordable considering the quality of the output. Overall, I'd recommend Ward and would engage him again. "

  • "Ward brought my ideas to life! We co-produced my debut EP. His skill sets, encouragement and passion for all kinds of music gave me a lot of trust in us working together from day 1. I believe he genuinely loves to see the best in fellow artists, so when it comes to studio/production sessions, he has a natural way of guiding the project from start to finish, by pushing the boundaries of creativity and sound, and by creating a comfortable, laid back, yet professional space. I highly recommend his work as a producer, sound engineer and session muso!"

Son Moreta - Rapper and Producer

  • Ward is one of our core music facilitators and producers here at Red Dust, and we are luck to count him as one of our crew. Supporting young people to find their words and their voice and use it loudly and proudly about what's important to their community is core business for us. Ward's professional, youth-centred approach has enabled countless young people to feel safe and supported to dream, write and record their songs, their way. His creativity and thorough and meticulous production processes mean that each voice, beat and melody is unique, super high quality, and reflects the young people and their community with dignity and guts.
